Heesen Sells 180-Foot Fast Displacement Yacht…

Heesen Yachts has sold the 180-foot Project Castor to an American owner. Of the past 10 yachts that the Dutch builder has sold, Project Castor is the sixth sold in the U.S. market. Sales broker Rupert Connor from Luxury Yacht Group introduced the client to Heesen.

Project Castor is a fast displacement design with a steel hull. Heesen has already started building the yacht on spec, so her delivery to the owner is expected just one year from now, in May 2020.

“In a world where instant gratification has become an integral part of our lifestyle, the opportunity to shorten the delivery time—while still maintaining the uniqueness of the project—is definitely becoming one of the most appreciated qualities when purchasing a superyacht,” the builder stated in a press release.

Project Castor is spec’d to have twin MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesels for a projected top speed of 15.5 knots, and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots.

Bannenberg & Rowell designed the interior, which is envisioned with smoked oak Chevron parquet flooring, and calacatta and pietra gray marble. Accommodations will be for 12 guests in six staterooms, including an 880-square-foot owner’s stateroom on the main deck.

The sky lounge will be full beam with retracting glass doors and sole-to-ceiling windows, and a beach club will be at water level with a gymnasium and wellness facilities.

Like the looks of Project Castor? Her sistership, Project Pollux, is already in build at Heesen and available for delivery to a buyer in fall 2020.
