Three Builders Have New Midsize Offerings for a New Yachting Seas…

New models are our favorite part of boat-show season. And a beloved builder introducing a whole new brand? Well, that’s like Christmas in February.

Princess Yachts has added a new entry-level model to its V Class line with the V40. The yacht borrows design elements from its bigger sisters (V Class yachts go up to the V65, which measures 66 feet 10 inches length overall). She has exterior styling that includes a long hullside window for natural light in the salon and two staterooms, and her aft stateroom can be fitted with optional sliding berths, allowing them to convert to a double depending on who’s sleeping aboard. A foredeck sun pad is standard, while an optional one can be added at the stern for additional views on the hook.

Not to be outdone, Austin Parker has introduced the 44 Open, which falls between its 36 and 54 Opens. This two-stateroom design can pack a pair of Volvo Penta IPS600 D6 engines, pushing her to a top hop of 37 knots. (Cummins power plants are also available.) Seating and sun pads are designed for 12 people to cruise aboard in comfort during day cruises, so bring the kids — and their friends, and their friends’ friends.

Last but not least, Kadey-Krogen is introducing the Summit line of motoryachts, created in partnership with Michael Peters Yacht Design. The first model is the Summit 54, a planing-hull design that’s completely different from the more than 600 displacement trawler yachts Kadey-Krogen has launched during the past 40 years. The builder says the yacht’s interior will be sophisticated, unlike “ultra-trendy interiors that simply don’t pass the test of time.” Orders for the first Summit 54 hulls are being taken now, with delivery expected in 2019.
