Mangusta Yachts recently launched El Leon, its first Mangusta Gransport 54. The yacht is 177 feet 2 inches length overall, has a 29-foot-6-inch beam and is constructed of aluminum, the material of choice for the brand’s new fast displacement Mangusta Gransport range. Not only is El Leon Hull No. 1 of the range, she’s also parent company Overmarine Group’s new flagship.
“In the automotive sector, the definition of Gransport is synonymous with high performance and optimal comfort,” says Maurizio Balducci, Overmarine Group CEO. “These principles have been the key starting point for the creation of the new line.”
That comfort can be found in amenities like a Jacuzzi tub and swimming pool on the yacht’s foredeck, as well as on El Leon’s after section that opens out into a beach club. And this yacht offers even more sun-soaking space thanks to foldout balconies to port and starboard.
Powered by four MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, she reportedly has a 29-knot top speed. At 12 knots, Mangusta says a Gransport 54 can cruise 4,200 nautical miles.
Alberto Mancini designs the Mangusta Gransport range, and he’s penned a sleek look for El Leon. It “reflects the muscular and dynamic lines typical of Mangusta but with the aggressiveness suited to a sporty RPH yacht,” the builder comments.
Her flybridge’s sloped windshield tops off the aesthetic, plus that area includes an amidships bar suited to serve both the lounge area aft and the dining area forward. And with her many main-deck windows, guests can enjoy natural light inside and relax with a view.
Next up for the Gransport range is the 54’s little sister, the Mangusta Gransport 45. The yacht is 148 feet 7 inches length overall and has a 28-foot-21-inch beam. Similar to her older sister, the 45 has foldout balconies as well as an opening after section, but on the 45, the latter opens up like a garage door versus out and into a beach club.
Like the 54, this model can accommodate up to 12 guests in 5 staterooms, but her 4 crew cabins accommodate 7 crew while the 54 can accommodate 9 crew in 5 cabins.
